Sophie Winter is an associate based in Freshfields’ London office. Sophie has a broad practice advising on contentious and regulatory issues, including commercial disputes, investigations, and global compliance matters.
Sophie has experience in complex commercial litigation, including managing large-scale disclosure and the end-to-end witness evidence process. Her practice also covers multi-jurisdictional internal investigations and M&A post-closing disputes.
Sophie also advises clients on their compliance frameworks, with a particular focus on anti-fraud, anti-bribery and corruption policies and procedures, and related transactional due diligence.
Sophie’s recent experience includes:
- acting for a major UK employer in the defence of a multi-billion pound equal pay claim;
- advising a global professional services firm on an internal whistleblowing complaint with a complex multi-jurisdictional backdrop;
- advising a national energy company on a post‑M&A dispute concerning post‑closing financial adjustments;
- advising global financial services and analytics clients on their anti‑fraud, anti‑bribery and corruption compliance frameworks, including drafting enhancements to policies and procedures; and
- acting for an NGO in judicial review proceedings and pre-settlement negotiations.
